sitting with jehovah’s witnesses

As I started making lunch for myself at home, I hear a knock at my door. Looking through the peep hole I see two older women - two very familiar faces that have been visiting my home for the past few years and exchanging conversations about Jehovah and the Bible with my mom and grandma. One looked of some hispanic descent and the other an african american woman. I stared at them for a while, still through the peep hole and thought to myself, “I don’t really know if I have anything I want to hear from them.” So, I just ignored it and walked away. But then I remember talking about Jehovah’s Witnesses a while ago with someone - about how we could learn a few things from them. Such as their desire to share their good news with everyone and I really wanted to ask them, what compels them to do what they do. So midway I turned around to go open the door to ask them this question. Well, I was right. They were looking for my mom and grandma. Any how, we got to talking… I shared with them how I was saved and a believer and a huge part of my ministry is on campus and blahblah… and then I asked them… “What compels you to evangelize the way you do?” Apparently this wasn’t a new question and they were excited to share with me the scriptures that motivated them. I invited them into my house and we just began talking in my living room. Basically, they told me to read some things out Isaiah, John, and some Psalms but they kept on looking for this name ‘Jehovah’ out of my Bible. So then I was curious as to why these others names like Lord, God, and Almighty weren’t sufficient… So I asked them that. And they said because everyone has a name.. like Jesus Christ. Although He’s called Prince of Peace and what not, His name is Jesus Christ. So for them they believe God’s name is Jehovah and they take particular interest in that. And then they I asked them what makes Jehovah witnesses different from Christians. And they began talking about God and Jesus but very separately at the same time. So then I asked them if they believed in the Trinity. And they acknowledge that they are three separate beings but not unified. So hm. I said there’s a lot of scriptures that acknowledge the Trinity but nothing came to mind. But I believe Father, Son, and Spirit as One so that was interesting to hear their perspective. The Trinity is a super confusing thing too and often times I can not explain it well. Anyway, we continued talking and I was able to find some Truth in what she was saying.. basically the Truth I felt was ‘If we don’t have a good enough relationship with Him then what can we proclaim? What good news can we tell?” Did you know there are 7.3 million evangelizing Jehovah’s Witnesses in the world? Witnessing about Father, Son, and Spirit and not One?

I’m not really sure how this makes me feel.
