Due to the strike on British Airways by Unite, it’s highly probable that they won’t be flying between December 22 and January 3. Vanessa and I’s flights are scheduled for the 23 which caused us to be affected by this dumb strike. We panicked for a little while and thought of the worst case scenario: spending Christmas and New Years without our friends and family. Luckily for me, my exams are done by the 17th but as for Vanessa, her last exam is the 22nd. We’re hoping that the professor will allow her to take an early exam so that she can avoid the strike.
At first I was really excited to come home. In the midst of all these exams, there’s nothing better to look forward to. But then I thought after these exams, I’m going to be free, with no obligations and itineraries. At last! I think I would have enjoyed my extra time here if the occasion was different.
Anyway, I can’t believe all this is happening so soon. I’m home-bound in less than a week. After being put on hold for 30 minutes, I was able to reschedule my flight for December 21, a day before the strike free of charge . I feel really bad for all the kids that have exams on the 22nd like Vanessa and might not be able to make it home for the holidays. So I can’t genuinely celebrate my return home because I’m seeing how this is a huge inconvenience for a lot of people. Best of luck to everyone!
